Ukrainian flag hoisted on EU Delegation HQ in Chisinau

The European Union Delegation to Moldova has raised the Ukrainian flag on its headquarters in Chisinau. “Today, like on any other day, we stand in solidarity with Ukraine, marking two years since the large-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia”, the Delegation declared in a press release.

“This gesture is not only symbolic, it is proof of the European Union’s support for the resistance and courage of Ukraine: in the face of oppression, subjugation and tyranny, the Ukrainians chose resistance”, the Delegation stated.

“Reflecting on this day, we remember how, on the day the war began in 2022, the people of Moldova showed an extraordinary sense of solidarity. Moldovans opened their hearts and doors to those fleeing the war in Ukraine, demonstrating a true spirit of compassion and humaneness. Today, the Ukrainian flag is a symbol of courage. Ukraine shall win, and Europe shall be by its side every step of the way in this fight”, the statement added.

Today, on the second anniversary the Russian invasion of Ukraine, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen is visiting Kiev. “In Kyiv to mark the anniversary of the 2nd year of Russia’s war on Ukraine. And to celebrate the extraordinary resistance of the Ukrainian people. More than ever, we stand firmly by Ukraine. Financially, economically, militarily, morally. Until the country is finally free”, the official posed on X.

Since the war started two years ago, more than 1.4 million houses have been completely demolished or partially damaged in Ukraine, affecting 18 million people. Of them, six million fled Ukraine, and another nearly four million have been left homeless. Because of the war, Ukraine is now the most mined country in the world.
