Contacted by phone, Anna Iovciu, press secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy in Chisinau, could not say exactly how the Moldovans holding Ukrainian passports voted at the two polling stations opened in Chisinau and in Balti. “The exact figures will be know after the CEC adopts a relevant decision,” Iovciu said. However, she specified that Viktor Yanukovych holds a comfortable lead in Moldova, as in the first round of voting.
The turnout of Moldovan voters with Ukrainian nationality in the second round of the Ukrainian presidential election was by about 25% higher compared with the first round held on January 17.
