Ukraine didn’t block the flows of Russian goods to Transnistria, as officials in Tiraspol and Moscow asserted, Ukrainian Ambassador in Chisinau Serhiy Pirozhkov said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
According to the Ukrainian diplomat, Ukraine didn’t ban the transportation of Russian goods through Ukraine, while the assertions concerning the economic blocking of Transnistria are aimed at discrediting Ukraine.
Serhiy Pirozhkov admitted that border control on the Transaction segment was intensified, but this was done with the aim of ensuring security and preventing the terrorists from entering Ukraine. As regards the intensification of military drilling in Transnistria on the pretext of preparing for possible attacks on the part of Ukraine, the ambassador said there is no logical support for this. “Ukraine will never attack Transnistria because this is Moldova’s territory,” he stated.
In the same connection, the Ukrainian diplomat said the situation in his country has connection with the Transnistrian conflict of 1992. “The pro-Russian insurgents from Donbas form part of terrorist organizations. Putin’s call for peace shows that Russia has certain influence on the terrorists. They are marionettes in the hands of Russia. This reminds us about the state of affairs in Transnistria in 1992. We do not want to experience such a situation,” stated Serhiy Pirozhkov.
He also said that even if the situation in Ukraine remains tense, Putin’s plan “Novorossia” was foiled. However, there are major risks at a time when Russia detached a contingent of 45,000 soldiers near the border with Ukraine.
