Ukraine’s Flag Day and Independence Day celebrated in Chisinau

Ukraine celebrates the State Flag Day on August 23, while the Independence Day on August 24. On this occasion, the Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova Tuesday staged a ceremony to officially raise the Ukrainian flag, Info-Prim Neo reports. The ceremony was attended by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova Serhi Pyrozhkov, and representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine, the Ukrainian community in Moldova and of civil society. “Ukraine celebrates the Independence Day only four days before Moldova. Our countries established cooperation relations from the very beginning. I think that in the future they will be even stronger. Ukraine aims to become part of the EU, as Moldova. The two states may integrate simultaneously,” said Serghei Pyrozhkov. He stated that Ukraine supports Moldova in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and has always pleaded for keeping the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The diplomat approved of the bilateral relations, the way the talks on subjects of mutual interest develop, especially as regards the situation in Palanca, the progress made in demarcating the state border, the restoration of air connection between Kiev and Chisinau and of the Chisinau – Odessa train route through the Transnistrian region, and the strengthening of the commercial and economic cooperation.
