Ukraine will actively contribute to resolution of Transnistrian dispute, Ukrainian minister
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishchenko, in the meeting in the 5+2 format held in Kiev on November 16, said that Ukraine will continue to actively contribute to the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, by observing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the Reintegration Office of Moldova says the meeting participants took stock of the progress made in the relations between the parties, including the restoration of the Chisinau-Odessa passenger train route, facilitation of the work of the Transnistrian economic entities, extension by one year of the period for cultivating the farmland located beyond the Rybnitsa-Tiraspol route, steps taken to restore the direct telephone connection between the banks of the Nistru River. The meeting also discussed the promotion of the confidence building measures and the prospects of resuming the official talks in the 5+2 format.
In the context of the preparations for the OSCE Summit that will take place in Astana, it was stressed that the political dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol and within the 5+2 format consultations has been strengthened. Chisinau's representative to the talks Victor Osipov spoke about the problems regarding the free circulation of persons and goods, the difficulties faced by the Moldova schools that teach on the basis of the Latin script in the Transnistrian region, the situation of a number of settlements situated in the Security Zone and about the cases of Vardanyan and Cazac. Osipov asked the international partners to more actively engage in the resolution of these problems.
