Ukraine to solicit recognition of hunger of 1932-1933 as genocide of Ukrainian people
Ukraine plans to propose for debate the issue of the hunger of 1932-1933 and will ask the UN General Assembly to recognize this disaster as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the minister Boris Tarasiuk plans, together with his partners from GUAM, to solicit introducing on the agenda the issue regarding the frozen conflicts on the territories of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova. “We want to draw attention over these conflicts”, Andrei Descitea declared, cited by the Ukrainian press.
The hunger in Ukraine occurred at about a decade after it joined the USSR.
In Moldova the hunger that killed tens of thousands of persons occurred in 1946-1947. The nowadays historians accuse of this artificially created calamity the soviet authorities, which confiscated the harvest from peasants.
