Ukraine to extradite Gabriel Stati and Aurel Marinescu

Ukraine's general prosecutor will extradite Gabriel Stati and Aurel Marinescu, Moldovan citizens, suspected of organizing the protests in Chisinau last week, Interfax Ukraine is quoted by Info-Prim Neo as reporting. According to the spokesman of the Ukrainian prosecutor's office, Yuri Boichenko, Stati and Marinescu was “sought by the Moldovan police for staging the violent protests and the actions pursuing to usurp the power." Larisa Stati, businessman Gabriel Stati's mother, had asked the European Court of Human Rights to ask Ukraine not to allow the extradition of her son. Her request reads that "in case of being extradited, Stati may be subjected to ill-treatment in Moldova." Gabriel Stati is the heir of one of the richest Moldovans. His father, Anatol Stati, is the president of ASCOM industrial-financial group, extracting oil and gas. Last week ASCOM announced it ends all operations in Moldova "till the installment of a democratic regime."
