Ukraine simplifies customs rules
Starting Friday, February 16, Moldovan citizens living in border settlements can go to Ukraine in a simplified way, as the Protocol signed on May 29, 2006, between the Governments of Chisinau and Kiev regarding the amendment and completion of the Agreement on Moldova-Ukraine border checkpoints and simplification of the formalities when crossing the border, has come into effect, Info-Prim Neo reports.
From the moment the Protocol came into effect, Moldovan citizens who live in border raions can cross the border on the basis of the identity cards or passports, having the right to cross the border on foot, by bicycles, by their cars and means of transport of which load capacity does not exceed 3,5 tonnes.
Children under 16 can cross the border in compliance with the legislations of both countries. Thus, Ukrainian children have the right to cross the Moldova-Ukraine border accompanied by parents, or legal representatives, in whose passports they are introduced. At the same time, they can cross the border using the Ukrainian passport, if they hold it, or using travel documents.
Representatives of the Border Guards Services in Moldova and Ukraine have adopted joint decisions with a view to implementing the aforementioned Protocol.
