Ukraine Science and Technology Centre opens its doors for Moldovan science

The Ukraine-based Science and Technology Centre STCU organises a series of events themed “STCU opens its doors for the science of Moldova” at the Science Academy of Moldova (SAM) from May 28 to June 2, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to sources within SAM, the events will start with the visit of the representatives of donors from several research institutions and laboratories from the State University and Technical University. A Workshop and Exhibition of the most important achievements of the scientists of Moldova and Ukraine will take place in the Blue Room of SAM, on May 30-31. For the first time in Moldova, STCU organises the 24th meeting of the Administration Board, which will be attended by officials and diplomats. The meeting will take stock of the STCU activity over the past 6 months, will set new objectives for the future and approve new projects. STCU is an intergovernmental organisation established by the European Union, USA, Canada and Ukraine on 25 October 1993. On 18 December 2003, Moldova also joined the Founding Agreement of the Centre, being the fifth, after Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. At the previous meeting, in November 2006, two projects of Moldova, worth EUR 267,000 were selected to be financed in the next 2-3 years. During 14 years of activity, STCU financed over 1000 projects to the total sum of USD 155 mln. The financial aid is offered by governmental and non-governmental institutions of EU, USA, Canada, which show interest in the scientific potential of the former Soviet republics.
