Ukraine has renounced the armistice announced on June 20. President Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine will advance and will liberate its land. This is the answer given by the Ukrainian state to territories, rebels and robbers.
Contacted by IPN, political analyst Anatol Taranu said the fact that the ceasefire agreement didn’t produce the expected result shows that Russia intends to further exacerbate the situation in Ukraine. “Even if it now seems that Russia gave up openly attacking Ukraine with its armed forces, Russia will continue to fuel the hybrid war there,” he stated.
According to the analyst, the risks threatening Moldova in this situation are multiple and are both political and economic. Moldova could face a flow of migrants from Ukraine. “Furthermore, it is absolutely evident that Russia will be looking for possibilities to influence Ukraine at all levers and this means that Russia’s military basis in the Transnistrian region will be probably built up. This would mean a conflict moved to Moldova’s territory,” said Anatol Taranu.
He also said that the reaction of Chisinau must be as active as possible. “It is obvious that Moldova’s internal resources are insufficient. Therefore, besides mobilizing the internal forces, Chisinau must take steps at diplomatic level to ensure the country’s security, including by a system of international, diplomatic arrangements,” he stated.
