Ukraine provides 100 places at universities for Moldovans

The Ukrainian authorities offer Moldovan students 100 places to study at higher education establishments of Ukraine for the 2013-2014 academic year. Eighty places are intended for Moldovans of Ukrainian origin who studied Ukrainian in education institutions, ten places for Ukrainian citizens who didn’t study Ukrainian, while ten places for persons of other ethnic groups. The candidates can submit the necessary documents to the State University of Moldova between July 15 and July 25. They will also have to take a test in the Ukrainian language, IPN reports.

According to the head of the Education Ministry’s International Relations Division Ludmila Pavlov, the students who will obtain such places will be exempted from paying tuition, will be offered places in dormitories, but for money, and will be able to apply for student awards if they have a good academic standing. “The Education Ministry of Moldova has the same offer for Ukrainians,” said Ludmila Pavlov. The Moldovan Ministry didn’t impose the condition of knowing the official language, but the candidates who applied for places offered to Ukrainians at Moldova universities over the last few years were usually from regions where they speak Romanian.

The places are provided based on the bilateral cooperation between the Education Ministry of Moldova and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
