Ukraine keeps restrictions on Moldovan meat, posts readiness to resume imports from Belarus
The Ukrainian Veterinary Service intends to withdraw the restrictions on meat and sausage imports from Belarus the next days. As regards Moldova and Poland, there are many unsolved problems, according to Ukrainian press reports.
„The Belarusian side has met all our requirements and we will annul the restrictions tomorrow or the day after tomorrow,” the chief state veterinary inspector of Ukraine, Ivan Bisyuk, has said.
On the other hand, Ukraine has many questions regarding the activity of the veterinary services of Moldova and Poland. "The meat deliveries will be suspended as long as these countries do not fulfil all our requirements,” Bisyuk added.
In particular, the veterinary service of Ukraine insists on requirements on importation of quality products, in compliance with veterinary documents, made from raw material from exporting countries.
Bisyuk noted that a meeting with Polish colleagues regarding this situation is scheduled for April 11-12. He said nothing about negotiations with the Moldovan side.
The state department on veterinary medicine of Ukraine banned on March 26 the importation of meat and meat products from Moldova, Poland and Belarus because it has discovered some cases when meat products were delivered without necessary documents.
According to data of the National Bureau for Statistics, Moldova exported 263 tons of meat worth 235,000 dollars last year.
