Ukraine confirms goods will be transported through Transnistrian segment with NFSA consent

Ukraine has confirmed that the goods through the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border can be transported only as a result of coordination of the operations with the National Food Safety Agency (NFSA) of Moldova, IPN reports.

The announcement was made by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection. Thus, the goods that will be taken to the Transnistrian region starting with May 20 can transit the territory of Ukraine only with the consent of the NFSA.

Last weekend, the Transnistrian minister of agriculture Efimii Covali announced that Ukraine from May 20 will ban the transit of food products through the Transnistrian segment. According to him, in a letter the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine says the transit of food products through Ukraine’s border with the Transnistrian segment will be allowed only with the consent of the National Food Safety Agency of Chisinau. “Given that we depend on foreign producers, the problem of food security becomes very serious,” stated Efimii Covali.
