UEFA has penalized the Moldovan Football Federation (MFF) by fining it €15,000 for the incidents witnessed during the match between Moldova and Russia played in Chisinau on October 9, IPN reports.
UEFA representatives said Moldovan fans chanted racist slogans and used banned pyrotechnic substances. Russia won that match by 2-1 and Moldova thus could not avoid the last place in the preliminary group.
Also, UEFA decided that tickets for the third sector of the stadium will not be sold for the first home match of Moldova of the EURO 2020 qualifying rounds.
The MFF got a heavier fine in 2011, after the Moldova – Hungary fixture. The fine then was €20,000, imposed because a fan entered the field during the game.
