Ion Crivoi, the candidate fielded by the Liberal Democratic Party, was elected mayor of Ucrainca village of Causeni district in the second round of voting on November 24. The villagers were to choose between two candidates, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the Central Election Commission, the preliminary results show that Ion Crivoi polled 410 votes (57.9% of the vote), while Nicolae Banari, of the Communist Party, gained 300 votes (42.3%).

The final election results will be made public after the district electoral council presents all the electoral documents in the original.
