The national Under 18 football squad of Moldova closed the competition at the memorial tournament “Valentin Granatkin” in Saint Petersburg with a defeat. The team trained by Ghenadie Pusca lost to Greece 0-1 in the match for the 13th-14th places, IPN reports.
In Saint Petersburg, Moldova played five matches and won against Kazakhstan and Estonia. “It’s hard to play five matches in a row, but I’m satisfied with the performance of my players. I consider we deserved a better place at this tournament,” Ghenadie Pusca told a news conference.
The memorial tournament “Valentin Granatkin” of 2015 was won by Russia. The hosts beat South Korea 2-1 in the final.
Valentin Granatkin was a famous Soviet footballer and the first vice president of the FIFA in 1955-1979.
