Two young people die in road accident caused by unlicensed driver

A 22-year-old man and a girl aged 26 died in a motorcycle accident last night. The young man was driving the motorcycle in the absence of a driver’s license and was earlier penalized by the police, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said the accident occurred in Țahnăuți village of Rezina district. It was preliminary determined that the unlicensed driver crashed the motorcycle into a curb when moving on a road covered with gravel. The vehicle was projected into a utility pole and then into a concrete fence. The driver and his 26-year-old female passenger died before an ambulance arrived.

In May the driver was punished for violating the road traffic regulations and had his motorcycle taken to a special parking lot.

Nine persons died and another 110 suffered injuries in the 118 accidents involving motorcycles that happened on the national roads so far this year. In the period, there were documented 4,824 violations committed by motorcyclists. As many as 990 motorcycles were taken to special parking lots.
