A child aged one year and eight months fell from the third floor of an apartment building in Chisinau in the afternoon of February 27. The boy was placed under intensive care in the hospital.

Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Municipal Children’s Hospital “Valentin Ignatenko”, said the child suffered multiple injuries, including abdominal traumas, a concussion and fractures of the hands. His state of health is serious, but with positive dynamics. The boy is to be operated.

The incident happened after the parents left the boy in the care of the elder brother who is by only several years older.

It is recommended not to leave the children in the room alone, especially with the windows open, even for a short period of time. When the rooms are aired, the child should be taken for a walk or the windows should be opened vertically, from up to down. The window insect screens look safe, but can be easily displaced when they are pushed slightly. There should be no tables, chairs or cupboards near the window as the children can mount them and fall from height.
