A girl aged two from the Transnistrian region drowned when she fell unto the Turunciuc River in Slobozia district. The girl was left in the care of a fried of her mother and she was playing together with other children, IPN reports.

According to Transnistrian press reports, it happened in Corotna village of Slobozia district on April 24. The child’s mother aged 26, who has a criminal record, left the child at her female friend to play with the children of this. Her friend left yet home, leaving the children in the care of her mother aged 52.

The grandmother was busy with domestic chores and left the children unsupervised in the yard for a period. These left home and when they returned the two-year-old girl wasn’t with them. One of the children, a boy aged eight, told his elder brother that the girl fell into the Turunciuc when playing with other children on the barrage.

The girl was looked for through the village for hours. Her body hasn’t been yet found in the river and frogmen continue searches.
