Two women were fatally struck by a car driven by an inebriated man in Drochia district. One of them died on the spot, while the other one died later in the hospital. The driver was placed under arrest for 72 hours.
Contacted by IPN for details, Drochia Police Inspectorate press officer Ina Moscaliuc said a car driven by a 22-year-old man from Drochia hit two women aged 46 and 52, who were waking by the roadside, when he was travelling from Țarigrad village to Drochia town in the morning of December 18. One of the victims died immediately, while the other one was rushed to the hospital, but could not be saved. A woman was a local, while the other one was from Căușeni district.
Tests showed the driver was in an advanced state of inebriation.
The driver serves as a firefighter. Liliana Pușcașu, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, confirmed for IPN that this is an employee of the Inspectorate, but said that they will comment only when the investigation is completed.
