Two more persons infected with the novel coronavirus lost the battle with the disease. The two women were from Chisinau and were aged 53 and 81 respectively. The death toll from COVID-19 in Moldova now stands at 72, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said the 81-year-old woman was admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute on April 19. She suffered from progressive respiratory insufficiency, arterial hypertension and hypertensive heart disease.
The woman aged 53 was transferred from the triage center COVID-19 Chisinau to the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1 in a serious state on April 13. She had severe bacterial pneumonia.
A state of emergency was declared in Moldova until May 15. As many as 2,548 persons had been confirmed with COVID-19 in Moldova by April 20. More than 500 infected persons recovered.
