Two Ukrainians prevented from smuggling over US$100,000 into Moldova

Two young men from Ukraine tried to bring over US$100,000 into Moldova without declaring the possessed amounts. According to the Customs Service, the two were passengers of the Tel Aviv-Chisinau flight and landed at the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports.

The undeclared money was found during the customs control. The men aged 32 were asked if they have what to declare. They said that they didn’t transport anything. But the customs officers inspected their bags and found US$30,000 and, respectively, US$70,700 in these.

The Customs Service noted that both of the amounts that exceeded the permissible limit of €10,000 were seized. In the first case, the person faces a fine, while the second case will be handled by the Service’s Criminal Investigation Division.
