Two St. Gheorghe managers disqualified over match fixing
The Moldovan Football Federation's Ethics Committee today disqualified two managers of the Suruceni-based club St. Gheorghe on charges of match fixing.
The Committee held that Valeriu Renita, honorary president, and Sergiu Caraman, president and former senior coach, “engaged in actions that contradict statutory rules of the Moldovan Football Federation”, banning the former for 5 years and the latter for 2 years from any activity related to football. Additionally, they were fined $15,000 and $8,000, respectively.
The decision was adopted at a public sitting held to hear the complaints of a group of former St. Gheorghe players, including Mihail Platica, Alexandru Vremea, Petru Ojog, Eugen Celeadnic, Veaceslav Posmag and Ion Rimbu.
The decision may be appealed in the Federation's Appellate Committee.
