Two sections will be renovated at the "Sfântul Arhanghel Mihail" Municipal Hospital

The cardiology and surgery II sections of the Municipal Clinical Hospital "Sfântul Arhanghel Mihail" in the capital will be renovated next year. According to the medical institution administration, the hospital would need financial support for its 2020 budget, which would allow the purchase of efficient modern medical equipment. The director of the institution, Mihai Ciobanu, made this announcement at an operative meeting at the capital's City Hall, where he presented the hospital’s activity report.

According to the director, about 90 doctors and 150 medical staff are working in the institution. The exodus of doctors is a serious problem. Currently, eight medical workers of the hospital have passed employment contests in different institutions in Romania and will leave the institution in the near future. At the same time, the institution faces an extraordinary lack of nurses. For optimal performance, the hospital needs 25 nurses, however, only 4 showed up to work this year.

Mihai Ciobanu pointed out that the total number of surgeries is increasing every year. In 2018, 2195 surgeries were performed, while in 2019 - 2240. Moreover, over eight thousand patients are treated annually.

The hospital will be internationally accredited soon and will become a member of the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation. According to the director, this would provide access to European funds and access to various training programs for Moldovan specialists. The training programs are expensive and not affordable for every doctor.

This autumn the Municipal Clinical Hospital "Sfântul Arhanghel Mihail" will reach the age of 190 years.
