The sleet that started to fall in the afternoon of January 24 and continued throughout the night of January 25 made the authorities close two road sections to large trucks. These are the Cantemir – Comrat and Anenii Noi – Palanca roads, IPN reports.

According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, ice formed on roads owing to the low temperatures and it was very hard to travel. Not enough antiskid material was spread as it was raining over the already spread material.

In the afternoon of January 24, over 50 soldiers of the motorized infantry brigade Dacia travelled on the Cahul – Giurgiulești and Cahul – Vulcănești road with three units of transport and helped unblock five trucks and a car that skidded off the road. Also, service members of the aviation regiment towed away a truck that got stuck in Rădulenii Noi village of Florești district.
