Two inspectors of the Criminal Police of the Buiucani Police Commissariat were arrested on suspicion of drug distribution, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on June 15, prosecutor Ruslan Toma, who heads the Prosecution Division of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office, said that the suspects were arrested in Ciocana district on June 14 during a controlled transaction. “There were two controlled purchases – of 3 grams of heroine and of 4 grams of heroine,” said the prosecutor. When arrested, the two police officers had on them large sums of money, including 6,000 lei marked by the police. At the place of one of them, there were found other narcotic substances. It is alleged that the drugs were brought from different countries and the group had worked for a period. In some of the cases, the suspects transmitted the drugs directly, while in other cases they were left in certain places. Ruslan Toma stated that three more persons are suspected of being involved in this case, but reused to say if they are also police officers. One of the arrested policemen had worked in the police for 8 years, while the other – for more than a year. They will be under arrest for 30 days. If they are found guilty, they will serve three to seven years in jail and will be banned from holding certain posts for a period of three to five years.
