Two policemen convicted for aggression
Members of the patrol and sentinel regiment “Scut”, sergeant of police Andrei Chistol and the carabineer of the military unit no.100, Neculae Buzdugan, were accused of exceeding their authorities, and were convicted by the military court.
According to the military prosecution office, on November 1the policemen had been found guilty of aggressing an inhabitant of the capital. Andrei Chistol has been convicted to 9 months in prison and stripped of his special military rank, and Nicolae Buzdugan was sentenced to a 1 year term conditional discharge.
According to the prosecutors, on August 6, 2006, at the terminal point of the trolleybus route no.4, situated on the Hristo Botev street, Chistol, being the superior of the patrol unit no.410, together with the patrol guard Buzdugan, groundlessly assaulted a man. As a result of the abuse, the man lost his consciousness, recovering only at the Urgency Hospital.
According to the prosecution office, carbineer Buzdugan totally recognized his guilt, and recovered the damage he caused. This fact determined the court to apply a conditional discharge.
Policeman Chistol, on the other hand, declared that he has no regrets for what he did, the court applying a real punishment entailing his isolation from society.
