Two police officers were fired, while another four policemen were penalized by order of the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu. The measures were taken after six police employees last week were involved in altercations at a recreational facility in Suruceni, IPN reports.
The Inspectorate’s Personnel Inspection Division on July 17 initiated an internal inquiry to determine what happened. It was established that the policemen acted in breach of the status of police officer, affecting the image and prestige of the job and the institution of which they form part.
The police informed that three of the penalized policemen work at the Centru Police Inspectorate of the Municipal Police Division, while one officer serves at the Ialoveni Police Inspectorate.
The General Police Inspectorate noted that it does not tolerate such behavior in employees who consciously or unconsciously affect the image of the Police and of each police officer even if they took those actions outside the working hours.
According to press reports, a number of police officers beat the manager and the guard of a recreational facility situated in Suruceni village of Ialoveni district on the night of July 15 following a conflict caused by the policemen.
