The joint group of experts of Chisinau and Tiraspol focusing on social protection and humanitarian aid warns about a phenomenon that can be hardly controlled – more persons validate identification papers in Chisinau and in Tiraspol and receive two pensions or other social benefits. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Deputy Minister of Labor Sergiu Sainciuc, coordinator of the working group on behalf of Chisinau, said there were identified a number of cases when the person, having two names and two identity cards legalized on the right bank of the Nistru and in the Transnistrian region that is not controlled by the constitutional authorities, receives two pensions. There are yet no figures that would show the size of this phenomenon. “We must determine the real situation and stop the provision of double benefits. The analysis we will make will help us establish when this phenomenon started. Our colleagues work at local level and exchange information, but it is hard to identify the persons who have a family name in Moldova and another one in Transnistria. The person must receive pension at the place of residence,” said Sergiu Sainciuc. The next meeting of the working group will take place at the start of December, when each of the sides will present the collected data. After all the information is gathered, there will be taken legislative, normative and other kinds of measures. It is not excluded that the persons who receive two pensions will have to pay back a part of the money to the state, said the deputy minister.
