Two parliamentary parties will not vote for Pirlog as prosecutor

The Liberal Democratic Party and the Liberal Party announced that they will not vote in favor of Vitalie Pirlog, who is applying for the post of prosecutor general, IPN reports.

”We sought the dismissal of the former prosecutor general Valeriu Zubco not in order to vote for a Communist prosecutor,” the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat told the journalists, adding they are for depoliticizing this post.

Earlier, the Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu said the Liberals will not support Vitalie Pirlog because he is the ‘man of the Communists’.

Vitalie Pirlog was chosen for the post of prosecutor general by a commission specially created for the purpose. The candidate was minister of justice under the Communist rule. In September 2009, he held the post of Prime Minister on an interim basis for a short period of time.
