Two oil companies cheapen liquefied petroleum gas

The liquefied petroleum gas was cheapened by 0.3 lei a liter in retail sale. Two oil companies submitted notices to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), informing about this, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Agency.

From June 5, a liter of liquefied petroleum gas will be sold for 8.97 lei. The decrease follows the reduction in the purchase price set by the suppliers. In the first quarter of 2013, the average quarterly import price of liquefied petroleum gas was US$791 per tonne, down 2.8% compared with the same period last year. In April, the average monthly import price fell to US$671 per tonne, while in May – to US$665.

Under the legislation, the ANRE cannot intervene in a competition market to set the prices of oil products, but it can issue or withdraw licenses and can monitor the market, including in order to prevent the operators from exceeding the profit margin of 10% stipulated in the methodology for calculating oil prices.
