On August 12, two new outbreaks of swine fever were confirmed. The disease was detected in Cucoara, Cahul district and Gura Galbenei, Cimișlia district, IPN reports.
According to Vitalie Carauș, head of Animal Health and Welfare Section of the National Agency for Food Safety, there are currently 11 active outbreaks in four districts: Cantemir, Nisporeni, Cimișlia and Cahul.
"Since the beginning of the year, 13 outbreaks of swine fever have been recorded in Moldova. Twelve of these are in domestic pigs and one in wild boars. The outbreak in domestic pigs in Ceadîr Lunga district is eradicated, and the outbreak in wild boars in Briceni district is under observation. In all, 267 domestic pigs were slaughtered," Vitalie Carauș said.
"The situation related to outbreaks is changing almost on the hour," Vitalie Carauș specified.
