In the Republic of Moldova, two new institutions will be active in preventing cyber threats. These are the National Agency for Cybersecurity and the Cybercor National Institute for Cybersecurity Innovation. They were launched during the first edition of the Moldova Cybersecurity Forum, IPN reports.
“Now that we digitized almost all services in our country, cybersecurity has become a very important aspect. It’s time for all of us - as employees in the public sector, as entrepreneurs, and as employees in the private sector, and also as citizens - to pay increased attention to this aspect and invest more and more in cybersecurity,” Prime Minister Dorin Recean said in the inauguration of the forum.
The two new institutions, launched during the Moldova Cybersecurity Forum, will focus on the ensuring of a safe digital environment, protection of the critical infrastructure of the state and society from cyber-attacks and guaranteeing of a high level of security of networks and information systems of public and private institutions.
“The launch of these institutions is a significant step for Moldova. It is essential to have them implemented so as to avoid exposure to risks and security incidents, as happened in the past,” said Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Technical University of Moldova and Tekwill, with the support of USAID, Sweden, the UK, the European Union Partnership Mission in Moldova and the e-Governance Academy.
