Two new deputy mayors of Chisinau appointed

Silvia Radu and Ruslan Codreanu were named deputy mayors of Chisinau by order of the acting mayor. Nistor Grozavu also signed a statement whereby he announces that he leaves the post of acting mayor general of Chisinau and this post will be held by Silvia Radu, IPN reports.

In a news conference given before the ordinary meeting of managers of Chisinau services and divisions, Nistor Grozavu said he accepted to hold the post of mayor general on an interim basis only for unblocking the activity at the City Hall. “The City Hall now needs a whole administration team. After I discussed with a number of colleagues from the CMC, I understood that there is no political will for overcoming this crisis. I thus decided to identify two suitable candidates and proposed these,” he stated.

According to Grozavu, Silvia Radu, who will definitely bring modernization and efficiency in the local management, and Ruslan Codreanu, who has a rich experience in public management, are upright persons and professionals. “Even if I’m sure that both of the candidates are approved of by most of our colleagues from the CMC, regardless of their political affiliation, the political interests and struggles between parties regrettably do not allow them to freely exercise their vote and the nomination of the two persons for deputy mayor was thus two times excluded from the agenda,” said Nistor Grozavu.

Silvia Radu was director of Gas Natural Fenosa and in 2016 ran for office of President of Moldova. Ruslan Codreanu is a Chisinau councilor.
