After 303 voting reports of the 305 were processed, the National Alternative Movement’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban is shown to have obtained 50.63% of the ballot.

Ion Ceban is followed by the Party of Action and Solidarity’s candidate Lilian Carp with 28.22% of the poll, IPN reports.

Under the Electoral Code, if none of the candidates gains more than half of the valid votes cast, a runoff vote involving the two candidates with the highest number of votes in the first round voting is held in two weeks. The runoff vote is won by the candidate who obtains the largest number of votes.
