Moldova’s Railways will annul two more train routes. The Chisinau-Ungheni and Ungheni-Chisinau trains will stop running on January 22. The railway company’s spokeswoman Inga Nosatyi has told IPN that the move is aimed at cutting the incurred costs and economic losses.
According to Inga Nosatyi, the passengers travelling by these routes will be able to use another two international trains that will stop at the same stations. The international train Chisinau-Bucharest will be supplemented by two railcars with 72 seats each. It sets out from Chisinau at 04:45pm and arrives at the Ungheni station at 07:02pm. When back, the passengers can travel by the Moscow – Chisinau train that leaves the Ungheni station at 04:53pm and arrives in Chisinau at 07:34pm.
“An expert working group analyzed the timetable of the suburban trains and modified it so as to ensure convenience. They yet kept the main passenger transportation principle - in the morning the passengers from the suburbs will have transport to the municipality, while in the evening back to the place of residence,” stated Inga Nosatyi.
A number of train routes will have a different timetable. The Ungheni-Chisinau train that earlier set out at 08:57am and arrived at the terminus at 12:02 will now leave at 08.03am and will arrive at 10:20am. The Chisinau - Ungheni train will start at 05:40pm and will arrive at 08:51pm, as opposed to 05:30pm and 08:44pm. The Ungheni-Balti-Slobozia trains will set off at 04:32 and will arrive at 07:36am, as against 03:36am and 06:57am.
Earlier, Moldova’s Railways announced that the Chisinau-Ungheni-Chisinau and Ungheni-Balti-Slobozia-Ungheni train routes will be annulled starting with January 18 owing to the absence of passengers.
