Two more persons announced their intention to run as independent candidates in the November 30 legislative elections. They applied for subscription lists for collecting the necessary signatures to the Central Election Commission (CEC), IPN reports.
On October 10, an application was filed by Liviu-Alexandru Prushynski, aged 57, while today, October 13 – by Vasile Haruta aged 48.
In 2009, a Vasile Haruta ran on the list of candidates of the Centrist Union of Moldova Party, but the CEC hasn’t yet confirmed if it’s the same person.
CEC secretary Andrei Volentir has told IPN that 15 candidates have so far expressed their wish to run as independent candidates.
Under the Election Code, to be registered as independent candidates, the persons must present at least 2,000 valid signatures to the CEC. To enter Parliament, an independent must poll at least 2% of the vote.
