Two more parties apply for registration for April polls

On the second day of registration on Friday, two more parties -- the Centrist Union of Moldova (UCM) and the Social-Political Movement “European Action” (MAE) -- lodged their applications with the Central Election Commission (CEC) to be able to participate in the parliamentary elections on April 5, Info-Prim Neo. Following a draw, UCM and MAE were provisionally assigned the numbers 8 and 9, respectively, in the ballot paper. The provisional order in the ballot paper is as follows: 1. the Social Democratic Party (PSD); 2. the Liberal Party (PL); 3. the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN); the Christian-Democratic People's Party (PPCD); 5. the Communists Party (PCRM); 6. the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM); 7. the Democratic Party (PDM); 8. UCM; and 9. MAE. The CEC will receive applications from political parties and candidates for participation in elections until March 5, inclusive, and will issue a decision within seven days from applying. If a party is refused registration, the next climbs a spot in the ballot paper. The order in the ballot paper becomes definitive after the CEC issues a final decision on the registration of the electoral competitors.
