Two men from the Republic of Moldova were seriously hurt last night in a fire that was followed by an explosion in the cab of a truck parked at a lot in Romania’s Vrancea County. The flames spread to a hall located nearby, IPN reports.
A number of firefighting vehicles and a SMURD ambulance travelled to the scene. “The fire started in a truck in Golesti commune. This was in the parking lot of a commercial organization, close to a production hall. The fire caused two victims. A man aged 36 suffered second- and third-degree burns on about 50% of the body. The second victim, a man of about 36, suffered first- and second-degree burns on about 30% of the body,” Florin Olaru, spokesman for the Vrancea Inspectorate for Emergencies, was quoted by mediafax.ro as saying.
As a result of examinations, the firemen established that the fire was caused by a cooking device with flames, from which the fire spread to the hall situated nearby. The cab of the truck was fully destroyed.
