Two nongovernmental organizations of Moldova were awarded by ERSTE Foundation in a ceremony in Vienna on June 27. The public associations “CCF Moldova – Child, Community, Family” and “Concordia” got by €16,000 each.
PR coordinator of ERSTE Foundation in Moldova Tudor Stefan has told IPN over the phone from Vienna that the two winning organizations from Moldova, besides the money awards of honor, over the next two years will benefit from PR support and consultancy and from enrolment in ERSTE Foundation’s NGO Academy.
The project “Social crèches” implemented by “CCF Moldova” helps the young and socially deprived mothers from Chisinau to keep their children, to obtain financial independence and to reintegrate into society. Within the project, there were opened two crèches for 30 children. The organization also plans to set up another two social crèches and a resource center for parents that will provide specialized assistance for adoptive or single parents and for guardians or reintegrated families.
Within the other winning project – “For our parents” – that was implemented by “Concordia”, there were opened 37 social centers all over Moldova. The centers provide a warm meal for about 3,000 elderly people daily and shelter for about 150 elderly persons.
As many as 35 organizations that concentrated their efforts on socially integrating marginalized people in 13 countries, including Moldova, were presented in the ERSTE Foundation Award for Social Integration 2013 ceremony. The prizes offered totaled €616,000. The Top Prize of €40,000 was won by Little People Romania for the project “I’m not afraid!”. It is a program of intervention based on therapy by games that provides psychosocial support for children and young people suffering from cancer.
