Two mobile phone carriers break number portability rules

Orange Moldova and Moldcell didn’t obey the regulations concerning number portability. As a result of inspections carried out by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, it was established that the two carriers performed banned practices of winning back customers who asked to be ported or who ported the number to another network, IPN reports.

It was also determined that SA Orange Moldova temporarily restricted, without justifying somehow, the incoming calls from numbers owned by SA Moldcell. Also, SA Moldcell delayed updating the information about routing of calls to numbers ported from its network to the network of SA Orange at a time when the technical and commercial conditions for implementing number portability in Moldova oblige the providers to do this online.

The Agency informs that after being issued with prescriptions, SA Orange Moldova and SA Moldcell removed the faults and assured that they will no longer break the regulations concerning number portability.
