Two men aged 26 and 31 were poisoned with an unidentified gas. They went down into an artesian well in Codru town to read the water meter and died there in the afternoon of April 15.

Contacted by IPN, head of the press service of the Chisinau Police Division Adrian Jovmir said the man aged 31 was an employee of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” and lived in Chisinau. The other one was from Rezina district.

The men were discovered by an 18-year-old teen who wanted to take them out, but he was also poisoned. He was rushed to the municipal hospital “Saint Trinity”.

Rescuers intervened to take the bodies out. Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said the origin of the gas by which the two young men were poisoned is not known. An investigation is under way.

Update Andrei Ciocarlan, doctor in the toxicology section of “Saint Trinity” hospital, said the condition of the young man is serious, but stable. He is conscious and didn’t have to be connected to apparatus maintaining the vital functions.
