Two men aged 26 and 36, from Nisporeni and Hâncești, who were earlier tried for aggravated hooliganism, were sentenced to 30 years in jail each for murder. The sentence was passed by the Ungheni Court, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the murder was committed in July 2018 in the house of one of the culprits in Bălăurești village of Nisporeni district. After drinking alcoholic beverages together with the victim, the three started to quarrel. The two men beat the 51-year-old victim to death. To hide the crime, in several hours they threw the man’s body in the local outhouse and covered this with bricks. Bones of the victim were found by the partner of one of the culprits in a month.

The culprits were put on the wanted list and were arrested in Romania, being later extradited to Moldova. The two admitted their guilt.

The men were also obliged to pay 533,000 lei in respect of pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage to the successor of the injured party and over 33,000 lei court costs. The sentence can be challenged in the Appeals Court.
