Two men drowned in Chisinau in the evening of June 19, one in the lake of “Valea Morilor” Park and another one in the lake of “La Izvor” Park, where swimming is banned, IPN reports.

According to the Chisinau Police Division, the 32-year-old man who drowned in “Valea Morilor” Park went to swim with a friend and could not get out of the water. Rescuers took him out, but ambulance doctors’ efforts to resuscitate him failed.

In the second case, the man was 21 and was from Șoldănești district. He went to swim together with friends of his. Eyewitnesses said the men drank alcoholic beverages.

The authorities repeatedly warn the population not to swim under the influence of alcohol, late in the evening and at night and to avoid swimming in places that are not specially outfitted for the purpose and have no rescue units.
