Two lawyers suspected of influence peddling
Two lawyers from Chisinau are suspected of influence peddling. One is accused of extorting $4,000 from a client pretending he will influence the prosecutor to cancel the prove against the latter. Another barrister has been arrested as he was getting $3,200 from a client to influence the prosecutor not to appeal the case in a higher court, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Interior Ministry.
In the second case the lawyer is said to have extorted and received 10,500 euros from different clients, who say the money would have been given to judges.
If found guilty, the barristers may pay huge fines or stay from 3 to 10 years in jail.
