A man and a woman aged 42 and 74 died when the car in which they traveled was struck frontally by another car coming from the opposition direction. It happened near Pârjota village of Râșcani district in the evening of September 7.

Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Râșcani Police Inspectorate Lilia Harea said a 52-year-old woman who drove an Opel car overtook a vehicle without making sure it was safe and collided head-on with a BMW car that was traveling regularly.

As a result of the impact, a woman aged 74 from the BMW died on the spot, while the driver aged 42 was seriously hurt and an extrication team was needed to take him out of the damaged vehicle. The man was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.

The female driver of the Opel car was arrested for 72 hours. She faces six to ten years behind bars and a ban on driving for a period of up to five years.
