Two people died after a cargo train struck a car at a level crossing in Calarasi on Friday evening, Info-Prim Neo reports. The police said the car's driver attempted to cross the junction ignoring both the red light and a queue of 12 cars before him at the junction. The attempt was all the more logic-defying since the junction, equipped with both traffic lights and sound signals, is located in a plain spot where visibility is high in both directions of the railroad. The collision was fatal for the passenger of the subcompact Hyundai Getz. The driver died shortly in hospital. Earlier this month, four people died and six others were injured after a cargo train struck a minibus in heavy fog conditions in Anenii Noi district. The police said the driver failed to stop at the red light.
