Two IT specialists were remanded in the custody of the National Anticorruption Center after they tried to organize the scheduling of a driving test appointment and issuing of a driver’s license in exchange for 13,000 lei. The two were denounced by a young woman who used the services of the two to make an urgent appointment for taking the driving test, theory and practice, IPN reports, with reference to the NAC.
According to the denouncer, the two said they have influence over employees of the Driver Examination and Qualification Division of the Public Services Agency and these can help her pass the practice test for obtaining a drivers license of category “B”. They received 13,000 lei by online payment methods for their services.
During searches at suspects’ homes, there were found documents and bank cards that can serve as evidence and 100,000 lei that was allegedly gained illegally.
Influence peddling is punished with a fine of 100,000 to 150,000 or a maximum jail term of six years. In the case of legal entities, the punishment is a fine of 200,000 to 300,000 lei and ban on performing particular activities.
