Two injured in weekend traffic accidents
Two persons were injured in the only traffic accident with victims that occurred over the weekend on the Chisinau roads.
Ion Roscovanu, a Traffic Safety Inspector of the Chisinau Traffic Police, has told Info-Prim Neo the accident happened on Sunday morning at the intersection of the Sf. Vineri and Rediului streets. A passenger minibus on route 120, driven by a man aged 28, collided with a Volga car, driven by a 45-year-old man. As a result the driver of the minibus suffered head traumas, and a female passenger, aged 25, suffered brain concussion. Both victims were taken to the hospital.
Nineteen other accidents without victims were reported during the weekend. Traffic police fined 42 persons for drunk-driving, 230 for driving unbuckled, 59 for speeding, 92 for wrong manoeuvring and 27 for neglecting the traffic lights.
The police are casting increasingly watchful eyes on the vehicle traffic while conducting the operation under the codename Semaforul (“The Semaphore”). Another campaign to be conducted by the Chisinau Road Police from February 25 to 29 is called Umbrisul (“The Shade”) meant to detect and fine persons driving cars with their front and front-side windows tinted.
