Two girls found dead from monoxide poisoning
Two sisters, 11 and 14, were found dead in their home in a Straseni district village. Their bodies were found by relatives, the Emergency Situations Service reported. The girls' parents have not been located yet.
The Emergency Situations Service said in a press release it is believed the sisters died on the night into Wednesday, most likely from monoxide poisoning caused by improper handling of the wood-burning stove. The bodies had no traces of violence, and there was a strong smell of smoke.
The case will be investigated to establish how exactly the tragedy happened.
The Emergency Situations Service is recommending extreme caution when handling wood-burning stoves to prevent accidents and is calling on parents not to leave children unattended.
